‘A great gig, beautiful songs. You really must see Winter Mountain live’
JANICE LONG, BBC RADIO 2
‘I Swear I Flew’ is an album that proves Winter Mountains place as a musical force of formidable talent simultaneously showcasing not only his extraordinary songwriting abilities but also his skills as a multi-instrumentalist and producer (Joe’s credits for the album stretch to Vocals, Electric guitars, Acoustic guitars, Bass guitars, Backing vocals, Mandolin, Piano, Harmonica and Producer)
Written and recorded between Ireland, the wild and beautiful north coast of Cornwall and across a stark, awe inspiring winter spent in the French Alps ‘I Swear I Flew’ is a rock music account of recent events in Joe’s life. Musically informed by song writing greats such as Springsteen, Tom Petty and Neil Young ‘I Swear I Flew’ has a punchier sound than Winter Mountains debut, being sonically and emotionally rawer and more revealing than its predecessor. ‘I Swear I Flew’ is at once romantic and hard rocking, haunting and high energy.
The album features contributions from folk superstar Seth Lakeman, who provides earthy backing vocals to Joes soaring Tenor as well as gifting the album his rare talents on Fiddle, Bouzouki and Tenor Guitar, helping to infuse the songs on which he appears with his unmistakable melodic and ragged Celtic swagger.
With its searing vocals, gentle acoustic guitars, blazing telecasters, pounding drums, gently piano balladry and echoes of many of the master singer / songwriters, ‘I Swear I Flew’ is a must-hear for anyone with a soft spot for great songs sung with burning passion.
